A coach helps individuals develop to their full potential. This can include assessing natural talents, investing in those talents to develop them into strengths, analyzing performance, and providing encouragement. Further, a coach serves as a sounding board for an individual to think through potential options in personal and professional opportunities. In a team setting, a coach works on the interplay and interaction among the individuals to achieve the best performance for the team.
For One-on-One Coaching, EPIC Coachsulting helps the client:
For Team Coaching, EPIC Coachsulting helps the team by:
Gallup’s CliftonStrengths framework helps individuals identify natural talents they possess and routinely demonstrate. This helps the coach and the client focus the time investment in improving those natural talents and turning them into strengths, which the client can apply for personal and professional success with the greatest investment value. Furthermore, CliftonStrengths builds a common language built on positive psychology (studying what is best about people) to use as a baseline for communication between the coach and client, client and their peers, and within teams.
For a One-on-One Coaching Session, EPIC Coachsulting will provide an access code for the individual to take the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment. This assessment provides a tailored report for the individual, with an emphasis on the top 5 talents for that individual. There are 278,256 combinations of five top themes taken from the 34 total talents. Most coaching sessions last 45-60 minutes. The focus of the call is up to the client, where the coach can help them better understand their natural talents, identifying where those talents appear in daily lives and activities, and building plans to invest in those talents and develop them into strengths.
For Team Coaching Sessions, EPIC Coachsulting starts by providing access codes for each of the individuals to take the CliftonStrengths assessment. The initial activities include a group session where the discussion covers topics typically covered in one-on-one coaching. These topics discuss strengths-based coaching, identifying inflection points in an individual’s CliftonStrengths assessment report, and similar topics. The core of the future coaching will include one-on-one coaching sessions for each team member. In addition, EPIC Coachsulting will run periodic team coaching sessions where the team identifies how their strengths interact and how individuals build partnerships around strengths. Furthermore, one-on-one coaching with managers and leaders includes specific emphasis on how to focus on the needs and strengths of each of the team members.
A Group of Peers Coaching is a hybrid approach. A group such as this may be a collection of leaders or managers that are peers but not assigned as a team. This allows a group session early to have a discussion on strengths-based coaching, identifying inflection points in an individual’s CliftonStrengths assessment report, and similar topics. The remainder of the coaching activities are one-on-one coaching sessions, generally without future group sessions.
Coaches help individuals and teams develop their full potential. A coaching relationship is not best served as a one-time interaction. Coaching is best when it is a relationship between the coach and the client.
